Swords Vs Axes
The title says it all, prove to me that axes are better, and i wont want a petition on making swords crappier.
At least hammers interupt alot... axes have... ya...
Give me an axe and i guarentee(sp) i can make someone bleed with it, where are the axe bleeding skills? Not to mention alot of the sword skills add 32 dmg to the hit max... making most of its skills stronger then the axes max dmg... and i thought axes had a higher max dmg? Oh, wierd balancing here... cough... axes shouldnt be brought up higher, swords need to be brought down.
End of story.
Agree or dissagree.
Let the discusions begin.

it makes sence for axes inflict deep wounds, you'd also bleed but id call an axe jammed into your chest a "deep" wound wouldn't you?

Swords don't need to be nerfed, I was one of the first avid axe fans from the beginning event, the axe is all about adrenaline skills and higher damage, easy to use four skills in short order, while enough of swords require you to have a fair supply of energy to be most impressive.
Granted I would like a bit more increase to damages, as Swords can get close, they can come closer to our damage with less attributes into them, but, a person focusing on axes will be able to widen that gap with criticals and high point damage far more often.

Sword, Axe, and Hammer all have different damage classes. Granted, some Axes are slashing damage, not all of them are, the balance lies in damage proficiency. All you have to do to test it out is fight a golem with a sword...... then get a none specified damage axe and do the same, there are axes with universal damage on them. Axes arn't as effective as sword or hammers, against thier perfered target, but do decent damage on anything, whereas swords vs elementals, and hammers vs bleeding foes suck. Axe is for the player who has to fight alternating foes, so his weapon will do a good amount of damage reguardless of enemy composition. Swords are great against thier specified type and hammers are good against thier specified type, but it is easier to use an axe and know your going to do enough damage
On top of that, you basicly start with cyclone axe, that's the only Local AOE melee attack between the 3 weapons for the first 10 lvls as far as I know, which will par for damage compared to sword or hammer in a crowded area. But hey, next time you think swords are totaly better, and Axe need bleeding skills, use sever artery on a Stone elemental, and you will gain some perspective.

this thread bums me out...i've been saving all my axe runes and rare axes for my warrior alt one day, but getting rid of all my rare swords and sword runes.
i assumed they were about equal and i much prefer axes
so it's really this out of balance then?

Bottom line I've found, and others may correct me on this. Axes are nice damage dealers just like Swords. But Axes have skills based on multiple targets near you. Meaning you have a few AoE attacks that will hit everything around you. Swords you focus on one, put out the dps kill it and move to another one at a time.
